Operations Research Group
Operations Research develops and applies mathematical models for better decisions in business planning tasks. This includes in particular production planning, scheduling, transportation and routing, packing and cutting, personal planning and any kind of resource allocation.
We develop exact solution algorithms as well as heuristic approximation methods. Strong emphasis is put on fundamental research in discrete and combinatorial optimization with numerous international cooperations. Our reaseach focus contains approximation algorithms, worst-case analysis of heuristics, computational complexity and algorithmic graph theory. Further topics are social choice theory and applied statistics.
The Operations Research group is situated in RESOWI, 3rd floor, unit E3. It is led by Prof. Dr. Ulrich Pferschy while Karl Meister acts as administrator.
